About the project

We all know we need more trees to help keep our planet cool. We also know that more trees are disappearing and not enough are being planted. Activists are doing all they can to protect our forests, but we all have a part to play in afforestation efforts. The trouble is that when it comes to identifying the land and coordinating replanting efforts, we can’t see the wood for the, erm, trees. In short we lack the data. Luckily we know where to look for it, starting with some of the 3.5 million land titles owned by UK companies. Seeding change starts with growing the available open data on land ownership. By funding Vana you can help nourish the roots of a deliverable tree growing strategy not just in the UK, but scalable to the entire planet where open corporate data exists.
